Community Event: Steel Magnolias by Chatham Community Players

The Chatham Community Players continue their 96th Season with Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias, a play that combines humor and tragedy in a memorable way. Opening this Friday night, the production runs on select dates through March 10. Jeffrey Fiorello from Montclair is the director. 

As the basis for the much-loved and multiple Oscar-nominated film, Steel Magnolias tells the bittersweet story of six women who gather under the dryers at Truvy’s Beauty Salon to share gossip, laughter, recipes and beauty secrets on four significant days across three years of their lives in a small Southern town. It is a heartwarming portrait of how friendship and love outshine adversity.

The cast includes Nicole Boscarino from Wayne as Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie. Anna Cave as Truvy Jones and Erin Feith as Annelle Dupuy-Desoto are both from Florham Park, Barbara Haag as Clairee Belcher is from Chester, Lynn Langone from Cranford plays M’lynn Eatenton and Jodi Freeman Maloy from Cedar Grove takes on the role of Ouiser Boudreaux.

Performance dates are Friday and Saturday nights, February 23, 24, March 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8pm. There is a matinee on Saturday, March 4 at 3pm. All performances take place at the Chatham Playhouse on 23 North Passaic Avenue in Chatham. Tickets are $25 for adults and $23 for youths/seniors.
