Chatham High School is taking on William Shakespeare in their fall play. A Midsummer Night’s Dream meets Manhattan in this contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare’s most-adored comedy. Central Park serves as the backdrop for three parallel stories–the trials and experiences of two sets of lovers, the world of the Fairy King and Queen and their elves, and a group of actors attempting to stage a production of “Pyramus and Thisbe.”
All the chaos unfolds on the Chatham High School stage November 17 and 18 at 7:30PM.
Local senior citizens are invited to the final dress rehearsal on Thursday, November 16 at 3:30PM in the high school’s auditorium.
Tickets are $12.00 or $10.00 with a Chatham student ID. Tickets will be sold at the door before each performance in the main lobby and are also available from Monday, November 13 to Friday, November 17 from 10:45AM to 1PM at the high school. Chatham High School is located at 255 Lafayette Avenue in Chatham.
In 2016, Chatham High School was named the #1 High School in New Jersey based on the past two rankings compiled by NJ Monthly magazine. Their list of top high schools, compiled every two years, put Chatham High School in the #1 position of both their 2014 and 2016 lists. The rankings in the magazine’s September 2016 issue are based entirely on data reported by the schools to the New Jersey Department of Education and published in the School Performance Reports section of the DOE website.
NJ Monthly isn’t the only place to recognize Chatham High School. In 2015, U.S. News and World Report cited it among the best high schools in the United States and #3 among comprehensive public high schools in New Jersey. In addition to its outstanding school district, Chatham offers its residents a quick Midtown Direct train commute to Manhattan and a central location near many of the region’s business campuses.
