Join the Chatham Township Environmental Commission as they celebrate their 14th annual Open Space Workday on Earth Day, Saturday, April 23. This rain or shine event welcomes spring with outdoor activities including trash pick up, pruning brambles or spreading wood chips on the trail. Participants will meet on at the Green Village Pond Conservation Area on Green Village Road in Chatham Township across from Melrose Lane and near the Shop Rite. Admission and refreshments are free, and trail maintenance takes place from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
Outdoor lovers, families, Scouts and youth groups are encouraged to take part in this worthwhile event. The Green Village Pond Conservation Area includes an old homestead dating from before 1928 and now owned by Chatham Township and the Morris County Park Commission. Some helpers may even find old bottles or other treasures on the grounds of the homestead. Wear old clothes and sturdy shoes, and if you wish, bring shovels and pruning shears, loppers and your own work gloves.
