Sign up for the 6th annual NJ Walks For TS at Mendham, a 5K walk and family fun run to promote awareness, acceptance, action and advocacy of Tourette Syndrome and its associated disorders. Taking place on Saturday, November 14, this event is a day of fun and empowerment for kids, by kids, and about kids. Mendham Boro Park at the corner of Mountain and Park Avenues is the site of this 5K. Registration opens at 8am, and the run/walk begins at 10am.
NJ Walks for TS was developed in 2010 as a collaboration between the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders (NJCTS) and Mendham teenager Emily Carrara to raise awareness for Tourette Syndrome–an inherited, misdiagnosed, misunderstood neurological disorder characterized by involuntary sounds and movements known as tics that affects 1 in 100 children.
Proceeds from NJ Walks for TS will fund the statewide education outreach and peer advocacy programs of NJCTS which provide on-site school in-service presentations to teachers, students and other educational professionals.
The NJ Walks for TS 5K is just one of the reasons Mendham is known as a community-oriented place its residents are proud to call home.
